Named in homage to Neptune—the eighth planet from the Sun and the Roman god of the sea—Neptune explores wave motion through a sensual progressive dip button profile.
This button edition release is machined from NbTi multifilamentary superconducting wire—an extraordinary engineered composite originally produced for superconducting applications. Within the material, numerous fine niobium-titanium (NbTi) filaments are embedded throughout a metallic matrix. When the wire is sectioned and machined, that hidden internal architecture is exposed, revealing an incredibly intricate cross-sectional pattern.
The amount of love, enthusiasm, and incredibly positive feedback surrounding these buttons from the community has been incredible! Seeing so many people connect with the designs—not only for how they feel in hand, but for the materials, geometry, and obsessive little details behind each one—has made manifesting them immensely rewarding. I genuinely appreciate everyone who has picked up a set, shared photos, offered feedback, or simply expressed excitement for what comes next. That response is a huge part of what keeps pushing me to explore increasingly unusual materials and new geometries with each release. And Neptune takes that material exploration somewhere particularly special.
The resulting surface of NbTi multifilament wire is absolutely mesmerizing. Hundreds of tightly organized filament structures emerge across the face like a microscopic geometric tapestry, with repeating hexagonal packing cells, rings, and radial formations that shift dramatically as the Neptune contours cut through the material at different depths and angles. What began as functional superconducting architecture becomes an organic, almost otherworldly visual pattern—somewhere between a planetary formation, cellular structure, and sacred geometry.
Measuring 24.51 mm in diameter and 16.56 mm in total height, Neptune features a six-dip dish expressed as a vertical Doppler wave. Successive concentric undulations tighten toward the center, creating a rhythmic progression of crests and troughs across the surface. The geometry gives the impression of a propagating wave captured in solid form, while the multifilamentary NbTi transforms those contours into shifting bands of pattern, light, and reflection.
The six-dip profile provides ample tactile ergonomics without relying on excessive dish depth, offering a succession of subtle contact surfaces for natural and comfortable finger placement. Its flowing contours unite function with a striking waveform aesthetic—evoking ripples across water while giving Neptune an unmistakable visual identity.
A convergence of tactility, motion, material science, and fluid geometry, Neptune pays fitting tribute to both its planetary and mythological namesakes.
